Donald McCain's unexposed hurdler has shown signs of ability in defeat and, sporting a tongue-tie on his first attempt at this trip, he looks the one to be with in a very a winnable affair. Point-to-point winner Clearisthewater was last seen finishing a good second at long odds over 2m at Plumpton recently and another prominent showing appears likely. Last seen finishing third over 2m3f, this step up in trip should help Roger Pol and he looks the main danger to the selection for the in-form Jamie Snowden team. Cardamon Hill is respected most out of the remainder.

C&D winner Mint Gold faced a tougher assignment at Sandown last time and the veteran should fare better in this lower grade, while stable companion Chapel Green scored over this track and trip off 6lb lower in November and could go well again.

A bumper winner at Kelso, Beyond The Verge ran well again under a penalty when runner-up at the same venue last time. He can feature once again, but the point-to-point winner SOLDIER IN MAYO debuts under Rules having joined Donald McCain's yard, and the five-year-old may prove good enough to take advantage of the weight concession from Susan Corbett's gelding. Caballo De Guerra showed plenty of promise when third at Wetherby on his racecourse debut and is another to consider.
