THE KING OF PRS has performed with credit in both starts this season, including when a close-up second over C&D on his return, and is fancied to go well again off the same mark as when third at Leopardstown last time out.
Today’s softer conditions won’t be an issue for him, and he technically has no weight on his back. I think Gavin Cromwell’s charge is a major player.
HUNTERS YARN has to shoulder a monster weight, but the eight-year-old will be making his handicap chase debut in a much easier race than when sixth in the Grade 2 Hilly Way last time out and could be difficult to beat with that run under his belt off 153.
He ran a decent race when a staying-on fifth in the Arkle on his penultimate outing at Cheltenham despite being badly hampered at the second last fence. His course record reads 12F1, and he would have won the race he fell in, too.
His only defeat here in completed starts was when second in a Grade 2 race behind a 150+ rated horse, and soft ground suits him well, so he’s fancied to make a serious impact being the choice of Paul Townend. I think he should be a clear favourite.
14:40 Chelmsford
WAITING ALL NIGHT always runs well and can compete off the same mark as when third at Wolverhampton last time out.
He ran a huge race when eighth in the Cambridgeshire on unsuitable soft ground from a 2lb higher mark, and although he’s drawn wide, we can expect him to be dropped in before coming through strongly late on. He will need luck in running, but if he gets it, he should be competitive.
ALZAHIR is another to be drawn wide, but he’s finished runner-up twice off this mark and remains well handicapped based on plenty of his previous form. He’s yet to win in handicap company but has a lot of decent efforts to his name and has performed with credit in all four course outings. He cannot be ruled out at double-figure odds.

I wasn’t convinced by Rosscahill’s movement last time out despite rallying well to remain unbeaten, and I think he will be found out in this tougher race. The one I’m interested in is UP FOR PAROL, who is well handicapped at present and should go well.
He finished an excellent third on this day two years ago in the Lanzarote Hurdle (off an 8lb higher mark) and remains 6lb below his last winning mark too. His latest second has been franked with the third, Super Survivor, winning off a mark of 122 at Doncaster.
Jamie Snowden’s consistent hurdler has made the frame in both starts over today’s distance and should have come on plenty for his latest reappearance. Dropped in grade with conditions to suit, he’s certainly worth an each-way interest against the favourite.
15:15 Chelmsford
I’ll take an each-way chance on ROSARIO, who looks well handicapped off a mark of 97 based on his runner-up effort in a Group 3 at Newmarket in 2023.
Before that, he finished third in the Group 2 Flying Childers, which is good form, and should be all the better for his comeback run at Lingfield last month.
His penultimate fifth in the Commonwealth Cup Trial is a strong piece of form, and he’s sure to appreciate today’s drop in grade. I can see him exceeding market expectations.
