The presence of Harry Skelton, who has opted for KART D’ESTRUVAL (best price 11/4) instead of Got Grey, must mean he thinks this horse can leave his latest run behind him and get back on track.

He’s undergone wind surgery since returning as a beaten 1/3 favourite in November, and off an opening handicap mark of 122, he can concede weight all round and get the Skeltons off to a flyer.

Kart D’Estruval, 1pt WIN, 11/4

At an each-way price in the opener, I’ll take a chance on ZAMBEZI FIX (best price 16/1), who is 3lb below his last winning mark and is handicapped to have a say in the matter.

He disappointed on his return to this sphere last time out, but that was a stronger race, and he will be much more effective at this lower level, so he’s one who can definitely exceed his odds.

GALA MARCEAU (best price EVENS) was beaten on her return last season at Doncaster, but she clearly wasn’t fit enough, and I’m confident Willie Mullins will not let lightning strike twice.

This Grade 1 winner is rated 5lb clear of You Wear It Well but is in receipt of 4lb, so she’s the best treated in the race, and Danny Mullins travels over to ride.

Last seen chasing home Lossiemouth, that is the best piece of form on offer, and this extra yardage could bring about improvement. I cannot see past her, so she rates a confidence choice.
