15:50 Southwell

There is jumps racing at Wetherby and Hereford on Wednesday 12th February while Southwell, Kempton and Dundalk stage all-weather meetings.

Today’s Best Bets from Steve Ryder

Easily Convinced is the least exposed in this field and could prove better than an opening mark of 71 but preference instead goes to MCKENNA (best priced at 10/3) who won easily in first-time blinkers a fortnight ago. The George Boughey trained gelding ran with credit in three qualifying runs but couldn’t justify strong market support on his handicap debut when only 8th as a 9/4 favourite.

McKenna rewarded punters who kept the faith last time when he was an impressive winner in first-time blinkers, scooting clear by 2 ½ lengths off a mark of 63. The handicapper has raised him 7lbs for that but he can hopefully cope with the step up in grade and follow up that success.

3:50 Southwell - McKenna 10/3 (1pt)

18:30 Kempton

This looks a competitive 0-85 handicap but it looks a good opportunity for the progressive GAIETY MUSICAL (best priced at 7/2) to record a hat-trick of wins.

The David Evans trained four-year-old was narrowly beaten over 6f here in December but is unbeaten in two handicap starts over a mile. The filly won by a length over this course and distance a month ago off a mark of 68 before following up off a 2lb higher mark last time at Wolverhampton.

Both of those victories for Gaiety Musical have come when ridden by Richard Kingscote and she is expected to record a hat-trick of wins under that jockey.
