Steve Ryder runs through the key races on Tuesday 18th February and names his best bets for the day alongside those from our experts.
15:20 Market Rasen
There is jumps racing at Market Rasen and Taunton on Tuesday 18th February while Wolverhampton stages an all-weather meeting this evening.
Today’s Best Bets from Steve Ryder
The Lucy Wadham trained MISS CYNTHIA (best priced at 15/8) hasn’t lived up to market expectations on her two starts over hurdles so far but she looks attractively handicapped off an opening mark of 109. The five-year-old ended last season rated 94 on the flat and her run on hurdling debut can be excused as she didn’t have any headgear on that day.
Miss Cynthia ran much better when only beaten 1 ¼ lengths by the talented That’s Nice at Warwick next time when fitted with cheekpieces and as a result she has been given a lowly rating of 109 for her handicap debut. In receipt of weight from Lavida Adiva, she should prove hard to beat with Tom Cannon once again on board.
16:10 Taunton
Liari was a smart juvenile hurdler last season but has been well beaten on his three starts so far this campaign and preference instead goes to AURIGNY MILL (best priced at 9/4). The eight-year-old won by 10 lengths at Newbury on his stable debut for Robert Walford in November before getting badly hampered at Ascot on his next start.
Aurigny Mill got back to winning ways over 2m3f here last time off a mark of 135 and he won’t be inconvenienced by this drop back down in trip. He should be able to cope with this 4lb rise and he can make it 3/3 under Joe Anderson.
18:30 Wolverhampton
This looks a weak 0-60 handicap and it looks a great opportunity for MAMDOH (best priced at 6/5) to record a second career victory.
The Joe Parr trained four-year-old has shown improved form since the application of cheekpieces including a victory over this course and distance on his penultimate start off a mark of 51. He was beaten at Southwell on his next start off a mark of 53 but that extra 2f appeared to stretch his stamina.
Back down in trip to 1m6f at a track we know suits him well, Mamdoh should prove hard to beat off the same mark with Warren Fentiman, who rode a double yesterday, taking off a valuable 7lbs.
