Following the abandonment of Punchestown, there is jumps racing at Exeter and Warwick on Friday 21st February while Southwell and Dundalk stage all-weather meetings this evening.
Today’s Best Bets from Steve Ryder
ASCENDING LARK (best priced at 11/10) has won all three of her starts since joining the Harry Derham stable and she can hopefully cope with a 4lb rise in the weights. The lightly raced seven-year-old had finished behind smart mares Fancy Girl, Brighterdaysahead and Tiger Bay Queen on her three bumper starts in Ireland but has shown improved form since going over hurdles.
An impressive four length winner at Haydock in March, she followed up under a penalty at Huntingdon on her next start. Returning from a 278 day break, she won on her handicap debut at Newcastle by a length and a 4lb rise for that success could underestimate her. She is expected to beat her main market rival Shantwopointfive.
4:00 Exeter- Ascending Lark 11/10 (1pt)
18:15 Southwell
Rohaan now drops into a 0-85 handicap but his last victory was October 2023 and preference instead goes to the in-form MANY A STAR (best priced at 11/2). The Jamie Osbourne trained eight-year-old has recaptured his old form since the turn of the year with form figures of 31311 in 2025 so far. His latest two victories have come over this course and distance off marks of 81 and 84 and because of his narrow margins of success, he has only been raised 3lbs once again.
Many A Star is well drawn in Stall 4 and he can hopefully record a hat-trick of course and distance successes under William Carver.
6:15 Southwell- Many A Star 11/2 (1pt)
