Le Soleil Reve failed to justify favouritism on his first start at Exeter in December (a race won by Star Of Guiting) but he might be worth another chance, while any market confidence behind newcomer Mad Maxios would be interesting.

LAGONDA returned to winning ways over 3m at Bangor a couple of weeks ago and a 5lb rise may not be enough to stop the 10-year-old from following up. That said, Almazhar Garde has been knocking hard on the door of late and is likely to be in the mix once again, while Champagnesuperover has the ability to go well if putting in a clear round of jumping.

Chasing newcomer Minniemum sits on a decent mark and returned to form with a good third over hurdles at Warwick last time. She could prove the main threat, ahead of Iron D'ex.

Bohemond Antioch is the only runner with previous experience but he doesn't set the bar very high and this could go to one of the interesting newcomers. Donttellyamumjack falls into that category as a half-brother to six winners and hailing from a respected yard, while it would be no surprise to see Pearl Smoke go well, but narrow preference is for HAY MACLEOD. A half-brother to 2m hurdle winner Hawk Stone, Alan King's gelding cost 60,000 pounds as a three-year-old and connections look to have found a good chance to recoup some of that outlay at the first attempt.
