There is jumps racing at Exeter, Leicester and Ayr on Friday 7th March while Newcastle and Dundalk stage all-weather meetings this evening.

Today’s Best Bets from Steve Ryder

King Of The Lake was an impressive winner for us last time but this drop in trip on faster ground is a concern off an 11lbs higher mark and I am willing to take a chance on THISTLE BE THE ONE (best priced at 7/1). The Keiran Burke trained six-year-old defied odds of 40/1 to win a bumper at Kempton on his rules debut before finishing 2nd at Ayr under a penalty on his next start where the now 139 rated hurdler Califet En Vol was back in 3rd and C’Est To Chance, who is now rated 133, was in fourth.

Thistle Be The One needed his reappearance run at Kempton but has since finished 2nd to two smart rivals at Taunton in the shape of Alexei and French Ship. On multiple form lines, he could prove well handicapped off an opening mark of 114.

It has been well documented that the Jeremy Scott stable have turned a corner recently and that could coincide with BAMPTON STAR (best priced at 9/4) winning this race for a second season in a row. The lightly raced eight-year-old has form figures of 113 at Exeter with his only defeat coming on his reappearance when facing the winner Katate Dori off a 27lb lower rating than currently.

Bampton Star on the other hand runs here off a 3lb lower mark which is only 5lbs higher than his eight-length victory over this course and distance last season. Chad Bament takes off a valuable 7lbs and he should prove hard to beat.
