Steve Ryder runs through the key races on 10th March and names his best bets for the day.

There is jumps racing at Plumpton, Taunton and Stratford on Monday 10th March while Newcastle stages an all-weather meeting this evening.

Today’s Best Bets from Steve Ryder

The Joe Tizzard trained I SHUT THAT D’OR (best priced at 7/2) steps up in grade but he is respected in his hat-trick bid. The seven-year-old appears to have really turned a corner this season over fences with form figures of 1211 with victories at Plumpton and Hereford. An impressive 4 ¼ length winner on his penultimate start, he followed up last time by 2 ¾ lengths off a mark of 106.

A 5lb rise could still underestimate I Shut That d’Or and with this slight step up in trip looking beneficial, he should prove hard to beat under Brendan Powell.

18:30 Newcastle

This looks a competitive 0-55 handicap but preference goes to ELETTARIA (best priced at 5/1) who has been running consistently well over this course and distance recently. The John Wainwright trained six-year-old won by a nose under Paul Mulrennan over this course and distance in January off a mark of 46 before finishing 3rd by ¾ length off a mark of 52 on her penultimate start despite not clear run.

Elettaria was his on the nose by a rival’s whip last time but still managed to finish 3rd beaten only 1 ½ lengths off this mark under Ryan Kavanagh. With Paul Mulrennan back on board for this race, she looks sure to be involved in the finish once again.
