14:40 Curragh

There is jumps racing at Market Rasen and Chepstow on Sunday 16th March while the Curragh returns on the opening day of the turf flat season in Ireland.

Today’s Best Bets from Steve Ryder

2:40 Curragh - Laugh A Minute 6/1 (0.5pt ew)

The season of LAUGH A MINUTE (best priced at 6/1) can easily be plotted with connections targeting 5f and 6f races here each year.

The Stephen Thorne stable is in fantastic form recently operating at a 43% strike rate and this 10-year-old arrives into this race in form. He has once again warmed up for this meeting with a run at Dundalk a month ago when he finished 4th only beaten 1 ½ lengths and now runs here off a 13lb lower mark than last year.

Laugh A Minute has victories at this course off marks of 95, 88 and 89 so he is well handicapped off a mark of 82 and looks sure to be involved in the finish.

15:45 Curragh

3:45 Curragh - Gleneagle Bay 5/2 (1pt)

Although 5/2 seems a very short price for an Irish Lincolnshire, GLENEAGLE BAY (best priced at 5/2) looks a horse with huge potential.

As previously stated, the Stephen Thorne stable is in great form so far this year and the booking of Colin Keane on board this five-year-old is a huge positive. He ended last season with a close 2nd over this course and distance when only ½ length behind the reopposing Rhythm King.

Gleneagle Bay runs here off only a 1lb higher mark and can reverse that form with a 4lb swing in the weights and the application of a first-time tongue tie and cheekpieces combination.
