Steve Ryder runs through the key races on 20th March and names his best bets for the day.
16:05 Chepstow
There is jumps racing at Ludlow, Chepstow, Sedgefield and Cork on Thursday 20th March while Newcastle stages an all-weather meeting this evening.
Today’s Best Bets from Steve Ryder
4:05 Chepstow - Stellar Stream 9/4 (1pt)
If he is able to cope with the quicker ground, STELLAR STREAM (best priced at 9/4) now looks well handicapped based on the form of his latest run in January.
The Kayley Woollacott trained eight-year-old finished 2nd to Katate Dori that day who was running off a mark of 117 that day and following an impressive victory at Kempton is now rated 20lbs higher.
Stellar Stream now runs here off the same mark of 105 for his 6 ½ length defeat and is now fitted with first time blinkers. He is respected with Callum Pritchard once again taking off a handy 5lbs.
17:00 Newcastle
5:00 Newcastle- Reginald Charles 15/8 (1pt)
This looks a weak 0-58 apprentice handicap and it looks a good opportunity for REGINALD CHARLES (best priced at 15/8) to follow up his recent success.
The five-year-old returned from a 381 day break to win on his stable debut for Geoff Oldroyd at Southwell when he beat Portoro by ½ length. That rival has since won and finished 2nd and is now rated 6lbs higher so Reginald Charles looks well handicapped off only a 3lb higher mark.
Reginald Charles has been given 56 days to recover from that run so hopefully he doesn’t suffer with the “bounce” factor and he gets the assistance of Warren Fentiman once again in this race.
18:00 Newcastle
6:00 Newcastle - Frankies Dream 7/4 (1pt)
The Jennie Candlish trained FRANKIES DREAM (best priced at 7/4) has a superb record at this track and he should prove hard to beat back up in trip to 6f.
The three-year-old has form figures of 2112 at the course in handicaps with both victories coming over 6f and both narrow defeats coming over the minimum trip of 5f.
Frankies Dream stayed on strongly to finish only a short head behind the winner last time shaping like this step back up in trip will help. The handicapper has raised him up to a mark of 71 so he is 2lbs “well in” at the weights and reunited with Paul Mulrennan who is unbeaten on the horse.
