13:15 Kelso

Steve Ryder runs through the key races on 22nd March and names his best bets for the day.

There is jumps racing at Newbury, Kelso, Bangor and Navan on Saturday 22nd March while Newcastle and Wolverhampton stage all-weather meetings this evening.

Today’s Best Bets from Steve Ryder

Cadell will no doubt bounce back from a below par effort in the Edinburgh National last time but the standard is set by the consistent DARE TO SHOUT (best priced at 15/8). The Ann Hamilton trained eight-year-old has form figures of 212222 this season and has put in career best efforts on his previous two starts according to RPRs.

Dare To Shout finished 2nd to subsequent Cheltenham festival winner Myretown on his penultimate start off a mark of 133 when beaten 9 ½ lengths. That rival is now rated 19lbs higher whereas the handicapper dropped Dare To Shout 1lb for that effort. On his next start he got outpaced and stayed on well over 2m4½f at Ayr when 2nd off this mark of 132 and he should prove hard to beat back up in trip to 3m2f.

14:15 Bangor on Dee

Regal And Royal is respected in his hat-trick bid but preference instead goes to TOO COOL FORSHULE (best priced at 9/4) who won easily off this mark on his handicap debut last time. The Oliver Greenall & Josh Guerriero trained six-year-old had previously finished down the field in his qualifying runs (so much so that the handicapper asked refused to give him a mark after three runs) before winning on his handicap debut last time at Market Rasen.

Too Cool Forshule won by 7 ½ lengths that day on his chasing debut and he gets to run here off the same mark over hurdles. He stayed on strongly that day over 2m1f that this step up in trip to 2m3f should suit and he should be able to follow up in this race.

2:15 Bangor- Too Cool Forshrule 9/4 (1pt)

15:00 Kelso

The Harry Derham stable are currently operating at a 33% strike rate and he has lots of fancied runners today. BARRABOOL (best priced at 7/1) makes her handicap debut in this race off an opening mark of 105 and looks to have a nice profile for the race. She won a maiden hurdle on good ground at Plumpton by 5 ½ lengths in November before chasing home both Jubilee Alpha and Tour Ovalie on her next two starts. They both ran with credit in the Grade 2 Mares Novices’ Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival and the latter actually reopposes in this race off 14lbs worse terms.

This return to better ground will suit Barrabool and Alice Stevens, who claims a handy 3lbs, has a good record for the stable. With four places available, she looks sure to be involved in the finish.
