Steve Ryder runs through the key races on 23rd March and names his best bets for the day.

There is jumps racing at Carlisle, Exeter and Limerick on Sunday 23rd March while Naas stages a flat meeting this afternoon.

Today’s Best Bets from Steve Ryder

All three of the main contenders have slight doubts around the 3m½f distance but preference goes to the 149 rated MONBEG PARK (best priced at 6/4). The Sean Doyle trained eight-year-old has shown improved form since the application of cheekpieces over fences where he has a really consistent profile.

Monbeg Park finished 3rd at the Dublin Racing Festival behind Backtonormal in a Grade 3 Handicap Chase before winning a Listed Handicap Chase at the same track last time by 2 ½ lengths off a mark of 142. J J Slevin takes over on board and he should prove hard to beat.

4:03 Limerick- Monbeg Park 6/4 (1pt)

16:23 Naas

This looks a competitive renewal of the listed Devoy Stakes and DALLAS STAR (best priced at 7/2) looks the one to beat if coping with the widest draw in Stall 10. The Adrian Murray trained four-year-old was a surprise three length winner of the Group 3 Ballysax Stakes on his reappearance last season before finishing down the filed in the Derby.

Dallas Star returned with a win at Dundalk a month ago and he only has 2lbs to find on official ratings with the favourite Trustyourinstinct. Bravais is a fascinating contender on his first start for Ger Lyons but this is his first start for 560 days and as a result Dallas Star looks the one to be with.
