Steve Ryder runs through the key races on 25th March and names his best bets for the day.

There is jumps racing at Taunton and Hexham on Tuesday 25th March while Newcastle stages an all-weather meeting tonight.

Today’s Best Bets from Steve Ryder

This looks a competitive 0-60 handicap but preference goes to ANA EMARAATY (best priced at 9/4) who appeared to relish the step up in trip last time and is unexposed over it. The Jim Goldie trained five-year-old had been exclusively campaigned over trips between 5f and 7f on his previous seven starts before winning comfortably by 2 ½ lengths last time over this trip of 1m2f last time.

All three of Ana Emaraaty’s career victories have come at Newcastle and he should hold strong claims with Paul Mulrennan once again on board.

4:43 Newcastle- Ana Emaraaty 9/4 (1pt)

18:45 Newcastle

The Ian Williams trained JUST TYPICAL (best priced at 9/4) has won his previous two starts over this course and distance and he should be able to defy a 2lb rise in the weights. The four-year-old won by a neck off a mark of 52 a month ago before beating the reopposing Concert Boy by ¾ length last time off a mark of 54.

Just Typical looks progressive and he should be able to defeat that rival once again despite a 2lb swing in the weights.

6:45 Newcastle- Just Typical 9/4 (1pt)

20:15 Newcastle

The Stella Barclay trained CLOCH NUA (best priced at 6/5) has form figures of 11151 so far this year and he can record a fifth victory in 2025. The six-year-old coped with a drop in trip to 7f to win at Southwell in January off a mark of 50 before being given too much to do at the same venue on his next start.

Cloch Nua had to wait for room last time here over a mile when a comfortable 1 ½ length winner off a mark of 57 and he looks worthy of that 4lb rise from the handicapper. The drop back to 7f should be fine in this small field and he should be staying on strongly at the finish.
