Today’s Best Bets from Steve Ryder
3:45 Fakenham - Wa Wa 5/2 (1pt)
WA WA (best priced at 5/2) was a huge eyecatcher on his stable debut for Olly Murphy and this step up in trip should mean that he is hard to beat. The 10-year-old was previously rated as high as 128 when trained by Dermot McLoughlin in 2022 but dropped down to a mark of 110 when making his stable debut last time.
Pushed along and detached in last over 2m4½f, he stayed on strongly under Sean Bowen to finish 2nd beaten only 3 ¼ lengths at the finish. Off the same mark but stepped up in trip 3f this time, he looks the one to beat.
15:55 Kempton
3:55 Kempton - Flegmatik 3/1 (1pt)
Menaggio looks a progressive novice but there is no doubt that FLEGMATIK (best priced at 3/1) sets the standard for this race (advised by Andy Holding). The Dan Skelton trained 10-year-old has a fantastic record at this track with form figures of 3110214232 including when a close 2nd to a revitalised Bad here last time.
The handicapper has raised Flegmatik 4lbs for that ½ length defeat which is fair given that the pair pulled 17 lengths clear of the third that day. He did beat Chianti Classico here last year off a mark of 137 so he should still prove well handicapped and he can record his fourth victory at this track.
16:20 Fakenham
4:20 Fakenham - Busy Being Busy 5/4 (1pt)
BUSY BEING BUSY (best priced at 5/4) is an unexposed five-year-old who should be able to progress past his elders in this race.
The Stuart Edmunds trained gelding finished 5th at 25/1 on his handicap debut at Doncaster a month ago before landing a gamble when victorious by 13 lengths over this course and distance last time off a mark of 103.
That was the first time that Busy Being Busy had raced over further than 2m1f in his career so he is completely unexposed at this intermediate trip and he should prove hard to beat off only a 6lb higher mark.
