16:55 Southwell

There is jumps racing Ludlow and Exeter on Wednesday 2nd April while Musselburgh and Gowran Park stage flat meetings and Southwell an all-weather meeting this evening.

Today’s Best Bets from Steve Ryder

4:55 Southwell - Bulletin 16/1 (0.5pt ew)

Tuca Salamanca will no doubt prove popular in his bid for a four-timer but I am willing to take a chance on BULLETIN (best priced at 16/1) on his handicap debut. The Jonny Portman trained three-year-old ran well in three maiden races last season beaten two lengths, a head and 1 ¾ lengths for which he was given an opening mark of 72.

Bulletin has been gelded since and now makes his handicap debut back at the track where he was only beaten a head last season. The stable are in form with a winner, two seconds and a third from their previous seven runners including close second in the Brocklesby at 25/1. Rob Hornby should get a good position from Stall 3 and he should be involved in the finish with four places available.

18:00 Southwell

6:00 Southwell - Fistral Beach 4/1 (1pt)

This looks a competitive 0-55 handicap but preference goes to FISTRAL BEACH (best priced at 4/1) who is chasing a quick fire hattrick. The John Mackie trained four-year-old won over this course and distance on his penultimate start off a mark of 47 before following up at Newcastle last time off a mark of 49.

Previously, Fistral Beach was 0-14 in his career so the fact he has got his head in front on his previous two starts will have given him confidence and he has only been raised 3lbs for his latest victory. He remains in the same 0-55 grade and he should prove hard to beat.
