14:20 Aintree

Race 1: 14.20pm Aintree

Pick: PUTURHANDSTOGETHER (9)

This is a good opportunity for Cheltenham Festival winner PUTURHANDSTOGETHER to follow up his Fred Winter success. He was extremely impressive that day, particularly with the way he travelled, jumped and quickened away after the last hurdle. He sets a tall order for the rest to aim at and can take the rise in class.

14:55 Aintree

Race 2: 14.55pm Aintree

Pick: AHOY SENOR (1)

Having finished runner-up in this race for the last two years, the Lucinda Russell-trained AHOY SENOR can extend his fine record at this fixture. His record at this meeting reads two wins and two seconds from four starts and he has an excellent chance to enhance those statistics.

15:05 Plumpton

Race 3: 15.05pm Plumpton

Pick: PURE THEATRE (1)

A repeat of her second just three days ago in a deeper race should see PURE THEATRE go one place better at this level. She’s 8lb below her last winning mark and Chad Bament can claim a handy 7lb as well. In what is a thin race, Anthony Honeyball’s mare has leading claims.

15:30 Aintree

Race 4: 15.30pm Aintree

Pick: CONSTITUTION HILL (1)

A flip of the coin in favour of CONSTITUTION HILL, who won this two years ago and has yet to be beaten when standing up. He took a heavy fall at Cheltenham, but he’s a class act, and has every chance if he’s none-the-worse for that mishap. It wouldn’t surprise me if Lossiemouth wins though. It really is hard to split them over this distance but I’ll side with Nicky Henderson’s star, marginally!

15:52 Sedgefield

Race 5: 15.52 Sedgefield

Pick: OLD PAGE (2)

OLD PAGE always runs well here and has two wins over C&D to his name. Despite being on a career-high mark, he’s fancied to go in again, as none of his rivals offer much confidence on recent evidence.

16:05 Aintree

Race 6: 16.05pm Aintree

Pick: LIFETIME AMBITION (17)

LIFETIME AMBITION has been targeted at this contest for 18 months and he jumps these fences impeccably well. He’s been in superb form for this trainer in the PTP scenario, achieving figures of 122211. He’s a major contender.

16:40 Aintree

Race 7: 16.40 Aintree

Pick: TOMMY’S OSCAR (1)

Despite his big weight, TOMMY’S OSCAR is a classy horse, and defied this mark at Ayr last April, where he comfortably gave weight and beating to last year’s winner of this contest Sans Bruit. I think he could be set to run very well.
