That performance sets a tough standard for his rivals to beat. Gladius, a 250,000gns purchase at Tattersalls Book 1, and Ernst Blofeld represent top connections and appear the most likely to serve it up to the selection.

Subsequently gelded, the son of Kingman has been found an excellent opportunity to get off the mark. Mister Rizz boasts a top pedigree, being out of a Ribblesdale winner, and commands the utmost respect on debut, while others to note include Sea Suite and Explode.

Atlantic Gamble was highly progressive last season and is entitled to the utmost respect on his return from a 198-day absence, but the vote goes to HIERONYMUS. A narrow winner over 7f here last time out, he is only 2lb higher and given that the mile probably suits him better nowadays, he is fancied to go in again. Racingbreaks Ryder might not be far away.

ARCTICIAN has been far from disgraced on his last two racecourse appearances, but he drops into class 5 company on the same mark from which he was successful over C&D in January, and it would come as no surprise were he to show more. Al Ameen is an infrequent winner but is a player having won comfortably over track and trip last time, while the returning Berry Clever can also go well in search of his hat-trick.

There appears to be plenty of pace on show here and it might pay to take a chance on BROSAY. The race wasn't run to suit at Newcastle recently so that effort is best forgiven and from what still looks a workable mark, he could provide some real value. Handicap debutant Noble Victory is an interesting candidate, as is the in-form Carbine Harvester.

Zoran has disappointed since beating ROBUSTO by only a neck over course and distance in December and the latter can turn the tables. The son of Churchill has subsequently gone close again at Wolverhampton and looks worthy of another chance allowed to compete off the same mark here. Rogue Tornado had last year's winner Cinnodin back in fourth when successful over a shorter trip at Southwell last month and can feature once again.

However, the four-year-old NOWHERE is less exposed and was having only her third start in a handicap when finding one too good at Wolverhampton. Well clear of the rest on that occasion, Tom Ward's filly is heading in the right direction and can make a bold bid to open her account. Dibble Dabble made an encouraging reappearance at Wolverhampton and could make her presence felt.
