Ballarat Bertie opened his account with last month's victory at Wolverhampton, though it's far from certain this drop back in distance will suit. Perfect Parole is marginally preferred to the latter, given she won over the extended mile at Wolverhampton in February, but the steadily improving I CAN BOOGY may prove the one to side with. Nigel Tinkler's filly snatched second in the dying strides over 7f at Newcastle last time and that encouraging effort suggests she will see out this longer trip.

ALONDRA finished fifth over 6f at Newmarket on last year's debut, but failed build on that promising effort during the rest of the season. However, she returned to action with a creditable fourth at Wolverhampton on her first start over the minimum trip, and the daughter of Sergei Prokofiev may prove a more attractive proposition this term. Radio Star went close at Nottingham when last seen at the track and she can get involved, while Queensmaite is a newcomer worthy of a second glance.

Party Bear successfully stepped up to 7f at Southwell last month and has been given a chance to follow up off 4lb higher. Zizi and Calaxy also arrive on the back of winning efforts and merit betting checks on their seasonal/handicap debuts. However, it would dangerous to underestimate ART PATRON, a full-sister to the classy Eternally who could be well placed to emulate her sibling by making a winning start to her three-year-old campaign.

NAZUKI was the ready winner of a similar race over this C&D in November and, having been given time to strengthen up since, the daughter of Earthlight is an attractive proposition as she bids to follow up. Vamp and American Treasure both have a more recent run under their belt and they look the main opposition, with the former rated the chief danger given the latter, as the only four-year-old, is disadvantaged at weights on these terms.

BILLY MCGARRY had been knocking on the door prior to his recent C&D success and the six-year-old boasts strong credentials once again, especially with his rider's 7lb allowance to aid his cause. Mickey Mongoose's latest efforts have been consistent and another solid effort appears to be on the cards. Others to consider include Disclosure, who carries a 5lb penalty after winning at Lingfield last Tuesday, and Jack Daniel.

A contest that might prove to be informative in the coming months with plenty of unexposed types. PHILANTHROPIST improved with each start as a juvenile and James Fanshawe's gelding scored at the third attempt on the all-weather at Newcastle. Now sent handicapping, it wouldn't be a surprise to see further improvement. Prince Of India has the benefit of a run under his belt after a novice victory at Wolverhampton and commands plenty of respect, while Kirkdale, Platinum Crystal and Stenmark appeal most of the remainder.
