My first selection on the day comes in the Group 2 Dahlia Stakes for the Fillies and Mares. Running Lion and Elmkala hold strong credentials here and are sure to be tough to beat. I do however think Cinderellas Dream (best price) is the one to have on side here and I think her strong finishing nature can get help her get the job done. She was a Group 1 winner last season and returned to action this year at Meydan where she finished second in a Group 2. That season return was a very encouraging start to her campaign and I would expect her to come forward for that effort. Despite having 4 lengths to find with Elmkala over the mile trip, this extra furlong should suit Cinderellas Dream and she just about gets the vote here.

The 5 furlong Novice Stakes isn’t usually a race that would hold my interest with three of the four runners making their debuts but the fact that you can get money against for the one runner that does have the experience is very tempting here. Twilight Star (best price 11/10) ran well to finish third on debut here at Newmarket and the faster ground herer should be a benefit for her. These Godolphin fillies tend to take a big step forward from their first run to the second and I would be surprised if one of the three newcomers were good enough to beat here here. Twilight Star takes all the beating.
