John Gosden has a fantastic record in this race with eight wins overall and seven victories in the previous eleven renewals. The stable run both Life Is Beautiful and SAND GAZELLE (best priced at 11/2) in the contest this year but preference goes to the latter who defied odds of 20/1 to make a winning debut at Kempton in December.
The Gosden yard have started this season in much better form including with lightly raced three-year-olds with the same profile at Sand Gazelle. Being by Frankel, she is expected to relish this step up in trip to 1m2f and can justify her Oaks entry next month.

ELMALKA (best priced at 5/2) won the 1000 Guineas on this day last season and can record her first victory since in this race. The Roger Varian trained four-year-old is impeccably bred being by Kingman out of Nahrain and her runs after this have actually worked out better than first thought. She finished 4th at Royal Ascot behind Porta Fortuna (who won a further two Group 1s), Opera Singer and Ramatuelle who both won Group 1s on their next starts.
On her final start last season, she ran well to finish 4th beaten only three lengths overall in the Sun Chariot Stakes here by Tamfana, Inspiral and See The Fire with the 120 rated Nashwa behind her in 5th. This trip of 1m1f should suit Elmalka well and she can hopefully make it 2/2 under Silvestre De Sousa.

Like many of the four-year-olds for connections, LIAM SWAGGER (best priced at 7/2) is a high-class dual purpose performer. The James Owen trained gelding finished 3rd in the Fred Winter Juvenile Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival before finishing 3rd by a length back on the flat at Chelmsford a fortnight ago.
Chelmsford is a track that suits front runners so the run of Liam Swagger, who stayed on strongly at the finish, can be upgraded. He runs from 2lbs “well in” at the weights (off the same mark) and he looks sure to be involved in the finish.
