Trainer Tony Carroll has won two of the last eight runnings of this and although he has two entries, PORT HEDLAND looks the pick in a first-time hood with Jack Doughty riding and a C&D win off this mark in May. Newyorkstateofmind heads south for Ruth Carr after a neck second at Southwell and as he is due to go up 1lb for future contests he can go close, leaving Notre Maison and Nordic Glory to fight it out for third place.
Prediction : 1st Port Hedland 2nd Newyorkstateofmind 3rd Notre Maison

Although Magic Stone has to be taken very seriously after finishing second on his last two starts, giving 5lb to the Richard Hughes filly ROSE OF SPAIN looks a big ask. Beaten by the highly regarded Miss Yechance at Catterick last month with the first two clear of the rest, the added furlong now may bring plenty of improvement. Showcasis Oasis was beaten a length and a quarter when fourth at Windsor on her debut and is another to consider.
Prediction : 1st Rose Of Spain 2nd Magic Stone 3rd Showcasis Oasis

Letter Of The Law has won here twice including in this contest 12 months ago and he is likely to enter the reckoning. Celebrating Ethel drops in class and it wouldn't be a surprise if she bounced back to form, but KNIGHT OF MAGIC gets another chance to deliver. A beaten favourite in a pair of handicaps this season, including at Lingfield on Monday, the drop to this level may give him the opportunity to strike.
Prediction : 1st Knight Of Magic 2nd Letter Of The Law 3rd Celebrating Ethel

Abate was a convincing winner with first-time blinkers added at Lingfield last month. Equally effective over 6f, stepping up a furlong shouldn't be an issue and another bold showing is likely. However, this is competitive and a 6lb rise demands more. With that in mind, the attractively-weighted CHARLIE MASON shades preference after hinting at a revival with a couple of recent third-placed finishes in similar company. The Thames Boatman and Gold Star Hero also make the shortlist.
Prediction : 1st Charlie Mason 2nd Abate 3rd The Thames Boatman

BEAR TO DREAM won this off 4lb lower last year and can defy the higher rating. A game winner at Chepstow last month, Michael Attwater's mare has resolutely held her form lately and could be hard to repel. Starsong can set a strong tempo and would be dangerous if allowed an easy lead. Toussarok beat the selection (whose rider lost his whip 1f out) by a length when winning over 7f here last month and is another key player.
Prediction : 1st Bear To Dream 2nd Starsong 3rd Toussarok

All of these have flaws but, from the bottom of the weights and with a 7lb claimer in the saddle, ROTATION could be the answer. Following on from a respectable third at Leicester - with a tongue-tie and cheekpieces combination added - there could be more to come from the Eve Johnson Houghton-trained gelding. Towerlands and My Mate Beattie are the pick of the rest.
Prediction : 1st Rotation 2nd Towerlands 3rd My Mate Beattie
