Celebration Mile

The Group 2 Celebration Mile Stakes is being run on Sunday rather than Saturday for the first time and they look set to be rewarded with a stronger field than in recent years.

Three-year-olds have a good record in the race historically as well as Ice Max winning it in 2024 so it is easy to see why Jonquil heads the market with a rating of 115.

He steps back up in trip to a mile for the first time since finishing a head 2nd in the French 2000 Guineas but it is another member of the classic generation going up in trip who I prefer which is SAQQARA SANDS (best priced at 16/1).

Ralph Beckett trained both of the dead heat winners Tabiti and Saqqara Sands at Glorious Goodwood in the Group 3 Oak Tree Stakes where the selection looked unlucky not to win the race outright. She is a consistent filly who is yet to finish out of the top two in her career and has improved with each of her six career starts.

Saqqara Sands stayed on strongly over the 7f trip last time giving the impression that this step up in trip to a mile will suit and with an official rating of 104 then she looks overpriced in receipt of both an age and sex allowance. Rossa Ryan is already booked for the ride and she looks overpriced in at the time of writing.
