Steve Ryder takes his ante-post position for the Ascot Handicap on Saturday 6th September.
Ascot Handicap
Grey’s Monument won this race last season off top weight and I am hoping that CARRYTHEONE (best priced at 33/1) can repeat that feat. The Michael Bell trained eight-year-old was an impressive two length winner of the Balmoral Handicap on soft ground on Champions Day last season off a mark of 104.
He had previously shown strong form at Ascot with a 3rd place finish in the Buckingham Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot, a 1 ½ length 5th in the Moet & Chandon International Handicap, a 3rd place finish in the Shergar Cup Mile and a 6th place finish in the Challenge Cup over a mile.
William Hill
- Solid in-play betting service
- Cash-in option to help increase profitability
- Excellent reputation within the UK betting-industry
So far this season, Carrytheone has finished last of eight in a listed race at Chester and last of eight in a conditions race at Goodwood but has been dropped 2lbs down to a mark of 108 as a result. Whether the Balmoral Handicap will end up the overall aim of the season, Carrytheone returns to Ascot with condtions to suit and he looks overpriced with four places widely available.
