The ready winner of a bumper at Downpatrick before she routed the opposition in a maiden hurdle over 2m at Kilbeggan, the daughter of No Risk At All looks very capable of handling a penalty while stepping up in trip. Herja also impressed when winning at Sedgefield three weeks ago and can make this a good test for the selection, with her stamina more proven at this stage. Mountain Molly and Kottayam complete the shortlist.

INOX ALLEN seemed to revel in his pace-setting role when he made all in a similar event over C&D when last seen and resumes with the scope to overcome an 11lb rise on just his third start over fences. The Irish raider Lightkeeper also won over track and trip on his latest start and should be a key player with Sean Bowen retaining the ride. The runner-up from that race, King Roly, is a closely-matched old rival of the latter and is capable of another bold showing.

A few of these have been struggling to find their form and are due for a ratings drop in future handicaps. With that in mind, Top Flight Century, Cosmic Soul and BURNING IT UP are suggested as the trio to focus on, with the last-named shading a narrow vote after finishing second to an upwardly-moble rival over C&D in April. Resuming off the same mark, the low-mileage five-year-old won't need much of a step forward to carry top-weight to victory in this company.

Back to form with a relatively comfortable success at Hexham last time out, UPFORDEBATE remains unexposed at this distance and a 3lb rise for that success could prove lenient. In excellent form of late in Irish point-to-points, Cosmic Blizzard is an intriguing recruit to the Russell and Scudamore stable. He is likely to have a say, along with the capable but inconsistent Sean Og.

A tentative vote goes to CHASING FIRE, who was talented enough to contest a Supreme Novice Hurdle in 2023 and hinted at a return to form when third over shorter here in April. A chase winner here before, Olly Muphy's charge should appreciate going back up in trip and he is narrowly preferred to the hat-trick-seeking Imperial Data, who has been raised another 4lb. The Real Whacker landed the Charlie Hall last November and this contest can tee him up nicely for another competitive campaign over the larger obstacles.

You Some Girl seems sure to prove popular here as he races off the same mark as when winning a conditional jockeys' event at Uttoxeter last week. Due to go up 4lb in future, he is clearly well handicapped but had a tough race on that occasion, so THE FLYING POET is preferred. Second on his last two starts, a tongue-tie is added to aid his breathing and he might have more to offer as a six-year-old. Evenwood Sonofagun could follow them home.

The Twiston-Davies team do well at Perth and they send top-weight Lightning Flash north for his first start since April, when he finished seventh over C&D. He is better than that but giving 9lb to KOPA KILANA looks a huge ask. Olly Murphy has trained the last two winners of this and knows exactly the sort needed, and if he can repeat his C&D second off 1lb lower, he looks the one to beat. Malangen has won here four times and also makes the shortlist.
