Steve Ryder has two tips from today's racing, both coming in the evening meeting at Southwell.
18:45 - Southwell
This looks a competitive 0-80 handicap but preference goes to BERNALDA (best priced at 5/2) who races from 9lbs “well in” at the weights in her hat-trick bid. The James Ferguson trained filly is unbeaten in her two starts since the application of blinkers with victories at Wolverhampton and Newcastle on her latest two starts.
Midnite
Bernalda was an impressive four length winner of an apprentice handicap last time under Alexandra Egan and the handicapper has raised her 9lbs up to a mark of 82. She instead gets to run here once again off a mark of 73 and she should prove hard to beat if coping with Stall 12.
20:15 Southwell
The Sir Mark Prescott trained NIGHT TARA (best priced at 5/2) has form figures of 12212 in handicaps this season and is arguably unlucky not to be unbeaten in all those starts. The three-year-old found 2m½f too far at this track last time when travelling well into the contest and she will be well suited by this drop in trip to 1m6f.
Night Tara runs here off the same mark of 67 and should prove hard to beat with Luke Morris once again on board.
