Steve Ryder has picked out three tips for Sunday's meeting at Longchamp.
13:50 Longchamp
A low draw is preferable in the Prix de l’Abbaye and FROST AT DAWN (best priced at 9/1) looks overpriced from Stall 4. The William Knight trained four-year-old has been running consistently well this season with form figures of 221243 since the re-application of a visor including placed efforts in both Group 1 races at Royal Ascot and York.
Last time in the Nunthorpe, Frost At Dawn had to use up early energy to get into a prominent position having slightly missed the break but she was only beaten 1¼ lengths at the finish. William Buick gets back on board and she should run well with extra places available.
16:25 Longchamp
4:25 Longchamp- Zarigana 4/1 (0.5pt ew) & Topgear 12/1 (0.5pt ew)
This looks an open renewal of the Prix de la Foret and I would like to have two stabs at the race.
The first is ZARIGANA (best priced at 9/2) who is quirky but is yet to finish out of the top two in her six-race career. The Francis-Henri Graffard trained filly finished a close 2nd in the Prix Marcel Boussac at this meeting last season and was awarded the French 1000 Guineas at this track in May. Zarigana looked the most likely winner of the Group 1 Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot before getting outstayed over a mile shaping like this drop in trip to 7f would suit her well.
The six-year-old TOPGEAR (best priced at 12/1) has shown improved form since joining the Christopher Head stable with his only disappointing effort coming when dropped back to 6f at Royal Ascot. He had previously beaten subsequent Prix Maurice de Gheest winner Sajir in a Group 3 over this course and distance and he looks overpriced based on that form.
