Royalist produced a better effort to make the frame on his handicap bow over track and trip last month and has to be respected for the in-form Richard Hughes yard. However, FANJOVE readily took care of his nearest rival by just under four lengths over 7f at Newcastle on his most recent start and a 6lb penalty is unlikely to prevent him from following up. El Carrusel is another to watch out for.

The son of Massaat now sports a first-time visor, which may eke out the improvement required to strike. Elvetham wasn't at his best when beaten at Lingfield last time and might be better judged on his second at the same venue prior to that. Jimmy Henry isn't ruled out either.

Having made a winning debut at Newcastle a fortnight ago, Wesam merits respect in his follow-up bid. However, a 7lb penalty does demand more of the four-year-old and COSMO GOODSPEED is slightly more appealing. Brian Meehan's charge has filled the runner-up berth on his last two outings and compensation may be in order. Returning duo Oursin and Jazzy Baby are both open to improvement and cannot be dismissed.

Brighlee appreciated quicker ground when finishing second at Salisbury in August and she appeals most of those with experience. However, Haddiah and SUNSHINE STAR are both intriguing newcomers and it could be worth taking a chance on the latter. The daughter of Sea The Stars is a half-sister to Oaks winner Soul Sister and could take all of the beating if ready to roll.

John Butler's inmate hasn't been disgraced at Newmarket and Carlisle the last twice and the switch to Polytrack shouldn't be an issue. Berry Clever is the pick of the remainder.

Bohemian Breeze is a C&D winner who has occupied the runner-up berth on two of his last three outings, so commands respect. Bajan Blue makes just her second handicap appearance and isn't one to write off, but PRIDE OF DONEGAL looks the way to go. Charlie Johnston's colt has shown a fair amount of ability in his four starts in maiden/novice company and takes a step up in distance on his handicap debut. With the likelihood of more to come, he could defy an opening mark of 75.

Kingmaker failed to justify favouritism when getting up for third over an extended 1m5f at Chelmsford last month and could have a say. However, the drop in distance is a slight concern and, with that in mind, the vote goes to ONE COOL DREAMER. Alan King's gelding finished a well-beaten third at Epsom in July, but is 1lb lower and has Rossa Ryan booked. Kingkeer completes the shortlist.

The son of Bungle Inthejungle sports first-time blinkers and looks the one to side with.
