All the runners here have shown the potential to take a race, but FERMAIN looks the likeliest winner with the George Boughey horses in fine form. A once-raced daughter of Ardad, she was easy in the market on her Chelmsford debut before finishing a four-length third when appearing to learn plenty from the experience. Atticum was only beaten a half-length at Nottingham on his second start and may get the better promising debut second Overbudget here in an intriguing contest.
Prediction : 1st Fermain 2nd Atticum 3rd Overbudget

There is very little worthwhile form to go one here with the exception of Charlie Appleby's OTTOMAN EMPRESS, whose three-quarter length debut second at Newmarket stands out. Sent off at the head of the market last month, she had to race at the rear after a wayward start and did well in the circumstances. She should be up to going one better here, with Newbury fifth Darkwing and newcomer Music Academy ones to watch for future races.
Prediction : 1st Ottoman Empress 2nd Darkwing 3rd Music Academy

GORGEOUS MR GEORGE deserves a fourth success of the season after three wins here and with a length second over a mile in a similar race off 1lb lower last time here, he gets the vote. Melvin Udall got off the mark in a Redcar novice in September by a neck and a mark of 76 may underestimate him ahead of his handicap debut, while Kingman gelding Palmarian may do better back on the turf after a disappointing fifth at Kempton.
Prediction : 1st Gorgeous Mr George 2nd Melvin Udall 3rd Palmarian

Cuban Lady and Sturlasson are high on the shortlist. The former has been placed in two of her three previous starts in handicaps and the low-mileage filly is appealing on her first try over the minimum trip. Sturlasson is more proven over 5f and lurks on a very competitive mark. However, a chance is taken on DIOMED DUKE, who can set good fractions when he gets into a rhythm and could be hard to reel in if allowed to set the tempo.
Prediction : 1st Diomed Duke 2nd Cuban Lady 3rd Sturlasson

A winner over 1m4f at Ripon in July, SILVER CHAMBER has knocked on the door with runner-up efforts at Windsor and Pontefract last month. Her latest effort was particularly encouraging as she pulled well clear of the rest and, from 1lb higher, the daughter of Sea The Moon has a major chance of success this time. Handicap debutant Gold Penny is a likely improver to monitor closely in the betting, while Sound Janet and Sibling Rivelry are consistent enough to be on the premises.
Prediction : 1st Silver Chamber 2nd Gold Penny 3rd Sound Janet

Ghost Story drops back in distance with every chance having won nicely at Windsor in July. Twilight Moon finished second at Bath last time and the winner has franked that form since, but a chance is taken on the unexposed HAZEM. Last month's belated seasonal debut at Newcastle should have brought him on and, with breeding strongly suggesting Saeed bin Suroor's charge will relish this extra test of stamina, he could be the one on his handicap debut.
Prediction : 1st Hazem 2nd Ghost Story 3rd Twilight Moon

A change of scenery has worked the oracle for STATE OF MADNESS. He's won both starts for Charlie Clover's yard by a wide margin, including last week's four-length romp at Brighton, and is hard to oppose with Alexandra Egan's allowance in the plate negating his latest penalty. Amarachi won over C&D on her handicap debut and could land a blow representing last year's winning trainer, while Respectable Jack won't be far away.
Prediction : 1st State Of Madness 2nd Amarachi 3rd Respectable Jack
