Tip 1: Jazzy Matty - 0.5pts Each Way

16/1 widely available at the time of publishing.

JAZZY MATTY (best priced at 12/1) has a fantastic record at Cheltenham and he looked overpriced on his return back to this track. The six-year-old won the 2023 Fred Winter Handicap Hurdle off a mark of 125 and then hadn’t run at the track until 2nd in the novice chase at this meeting when a head behind the 143 rated Path d’Oroux when giving that rival 8lbs.

The Cian Collins trained gelding then won the Grand Annual Handicap Chase off a mark of 135 earning him a 7lb rise over fences. He was beaten over hurdles twice since off a mark of 125 over hurdles in Ireland and runs here off a mark of 131 in that code but the return to this track will suit and he looks sure to run well.

Tip 2: Day of Grace - 1pt Win

11/8 best price at the time of publishing

This looks a competitive 0-85 fillies’ handicap but preference goes to DAY OF GRACE (best priced at 11/8) who runs here from 4lbs “well in” at the weights under a 6lb penalty. The William Haggas trained filly ran with credit on her three qualifying runs but has shown improved form winning both of her handicap starts.

Day Of Grace won by two lengths at Thirsk off a mark of 68 before winning comfortably by 3 ½ lengths at Goodwood last time off a mark of 74. The handicapper has raised her up to a mark of 84 but she instead runs here under a 6lb penalty meaning she is 4lbs “well in” at the weights. This 1m2f distance suits well and she looks the one to beat.

Tip 3: Regarde - 0.5pts Each Way

6/1 widely available at the time of publishing.

Jamie Snowden has booked Barry O’Neill for the first time in his training career on board REGARDE (best priced at 6/1) which is fascinating given he rode him three times in PTPs earlier in his career including when a 12 length winner at Monksgrange. The eight-year-old has a consistent record over fences with form figures of 113F213P12 including when winning for the first time going left-handed at Haydock in March.

Regarde finished 2nd over 3m4f at Cheltenham (new course) last time off this mark of 120 behind a subsequent winner (now rated 17lbs higher) and it is interesting that he has had another wind operation. He won at Haydock after a wind operation and should run well under a top amateur rider with a good record fresh.
