UK Horse Racing Tips: Dundalk

Victorious at Naas back in May, the Stephen Thorne-trained mare drops in class significantly and it will be disappointing if she doesn't take maximum advantage. Minaun View has to be a contender with her rating, especially once taking her rider's claim into account. Amemri has a bit to do at these weights, but the David Marnane-trained mare is a multiple winner who can usually be relied upon to run her race here.

A winner over C&D two weeks ago, VENETIAN can follow up. Prominent throughout, the Sean Davis-trained gelding looked to relish the drop back in trip, going clear inside the final furlong to score easily. Although raised 10lb, the five-year-old has won off higher marks in the past and has the beating of a number of these on previous form. Three-time course scorer Darkdeserthighway has yet to triumph over this distance, but has to be a danger. Michael O'Callaghan's mare, who caught the eye when fifth at Gowran Park recently, has the services of leading apprentice Nicola Burns on this occasion. Wegotogether, who didn't enjoy the clearest of runs behind Venetian last time, is also worthy of consideration.

Narrowly beaten in a stronger race over C&D last month, MASKED ANGEL can go one better. Fitted with a first-time tongue-tie on that occasion, the Diego Dias-trained filly retains that aid here. While there is again unlikely to be very much between her and the third-placed Undefeatable, the daughter of Harry Angel just gets the vote. Undefeatable beat Masked Angel at Sligo in August, but was unable to confirm the form last time. At the revised weights, it should be tight between the pair. Jazzy Dancer is nicely handicapped if he can overcome a very wide draw.

Runner-up in a winners' race over C&D, ROSIE FRITH can register a second success. Having attempted to make all last time, the Patrick Magee-trained filly kept on strongly once headed. Back in calmer waters, it would be no surprise to see the speedy daughter of Cotai Glory lead throughout. Down Royal second Final Melody is weighted to reverse that form with her conqueror Love Bomb on these terms. Also runner-up on her previous start, the Natalia Lupini-trained filly looks fairly handicapped at present. Spicetown finished with plenty of running left in him after a nightmare passage here and should be capable of making his presence felt.

In a race where the visitors look to hold strong claims, STAR OF LADY M is taken to come out on top. Lightly raced this season, the David O'Meara-trained mare ran well in much stronger company when mid-division in the Abbaye earlier this month. A three-time winner on the all-weather, the five-year-old daughter of Havana Grey should appreciate this drop in class. Fellow UK raider West Acre has also kept smart company. A dual winner at Meydan earlier in the year, the George Scott-trained gelding would have every chance if ready after a break. Spartan Arrow is another with claims of taking this prize back across the Irish Sea.

BOSTON BENJAMIN can open his account at the third time of asking. Having shown promise in mid-division at Down Royal on his debut, the Gordon Elliott-trained colt stepped up on that effort with a nice run for fourth at Naas. That form looks particularly strong, with the third winning twice subsequently and all three ahead of the selection now rated over 80. Provided that the son of Far Above handles the all-weather surface, he looks very much the one to beat. Fifth here on her introduction last month, Saga Lucia is entitled to improve for that experience and stepping up a furlong looks sure to suit. A half-brother to two winners, Mahi Mahi has to be respected.

Second over C&D last month, BEN LAWERS can go one place better. Making his all-weather debut on that occasion, the Jessica Harrington-trained colt made a short-priced favourite work hard before eventually giving best late on. Although last of nine in a Listed race at Killarney on his previous start, it was surely significant that connections deemed the son of Siyouni worthy of a place in that race. This looks a decent opportunity to gain a first winning bracket. Etawa needs to improve on what she has shown to date, but the Dermot Weld-trained filly must be respected in first-time cheekpieces. Head To Head looks best of the remainder.
