3:00 Chepstow - The Kemble Brewery 6/4 (1pt)

THE KEMBLE BREWERY (best priced at 6/4) is a horse that the Kim Bailey stable has always held in high regard and he should develop into an exciting novice chaser this season. The six-year-old beat Valgrand in a bumper before winning his first two novice hurdles last season including when beating the 132 rated Jurancon off level weights at Worcester.

Despite his season ending with a poor effort at Sandown in the Novices’ Handicap Hurdle Final, The Kemble Brewery still looks well handicapped off this mark of 129 and he should be able to make a winning chasing debut in this interesting contest.

5:30 Kempton - Heathcliff 3/1 (1pt)

The James Fanshawe trained HEATHCLIFF (best priced at 3/1) has a superb record at Kempton with form figures of 1312126 and he is now below the mark of his neck 2nd over this course and distance in February. Whether the four-year-old is better over 7f than 6f is a question mark but his liking for this track and this smaller field should suit him well.

Heathcliff was an unlucky 6th on his previous start at this track when stumbling in the stalls and repeatedly not getting a clear run in the straight. He is now back down to a mark of 90 and should prove hard to beat if getting a good pace to aim at.

6:00 Kempton - Smasher 7/1 (0.5pt ew)

This looks a competitive 0-60 handicap but preference goes to SMASHER (best priced at 7/1) arrives in good form. The Michael Attwater trained five-year-old finished 3rd at Chelmsford in September before winning over this course and distance by a neck on the 1st October off a mark of 53.

Smasher then finished 2nd beaten a length by the reopposing Southbank here last time off a mark of 55 and he gets to run here off the same mark whereas the winner has a 5lb penalty which makes him 2lbs “wrong” at the weights without including Toby Moore’s claim. Smasher looks the solid option with four places widely available.
