Tip 1: 13:00 Kempton - Jimbo Sport - 1pt

Favourites have won this race a remarkable 11 out of the previous 12 years but I am looking to take on Ice In The Veins who has a 7lb penalty for winning a three-runner novice hurdle at Warwick at odds of 1/9. He has twice been beaten at odds on already in his career and faces better opponents in this novice hurdle. The Ben Pauling stable have started this season in good form operating above a 30% strike rate in the past fortnight. In that time he has had 11 winners from 35 runners with all apart from one returning from a break longer than 136 days.

JIMBO SPORT (best priced at 9/4) makes his hurdling debut here having been off for 229 days since winning a Hereford bumper on his stable debut. He was sent off 4/5 in that six-runner race when he made all on good ground under Callum Pritchard. The form is hard to assess but he could upset the favourite in receipt of a handy 7lbs.

Tip 2: 13:30 Kempton - Fresh Kicks - 1pt

Nicky Henderson has won this race three of the past four seasons with Doddiethegreat (2021), East India Express (2023) and Califet En Vol (2024) last year. He runs FRESH KICKS (best priced at 2/1) this year who was purchased for £95,000 following a neck 2nd finish in an Irish PTP in November last year.

The five-year-old was sent off 15/8 favourite for a Warwick bumper when 5th beaten 4 lengths on his stable debut in April but the form has worked out well. The winner Crystal Days placed on hurdles debut, the third Pioneer Pete has finished 2nd on his two hurdle starts and the fourth Big Boy Barney has placed on 2 of his 3 hurdle starts.

Fresh Kicks will need to step forward from that effort but he has had a wind operation since that run and should be suited by starting out over this 2m5f trip.

Fresh Kicks - 1pt - 2/1

Tip 3: 15:23 Carlisle - Northern Air - 1pt

The Dan Skelton stable are in good form with a four-timer on Friday and a double at Aintree on Saturday. NORTHERN AIR (best priced at 9/4) makes her stable debut here having joined from the Fergal O’Brien yard at the end of last season. The six-year-old makes her reappearance following 233 days off the track and immediately is sent over fences and upped in trip.

Northern Air won at Taunton last season in a maiden hurdle before disappointing on her handicap debut at Kelso in March over 2 miles. She steps up in trip to 2m4f for the first time and can make a winning chasing debut off a mark of 109.

Northern Air 9/4 (1pt)
