14;55 Cheltenham

Tip 1: 14.55 Cheltenham - GOWEL ROAD (9/1 generally) - 0.5 POINTS EACH-WAY

The anticipation of further rain will only increase the credentials of top-weight GOWEL ROAD, who has a good record at Cheltenham. This talented nine-year-old should be all-the-better from his comeback run here last month, having finished behind a few reopposing rivals.

He was a game winner of the Grade 2 Cleeve Hurdle here in January and this is significantly easier. If he’s handed an uncontested lead, I’m expecting him to put up more of a fight this time for a stable that has been firing on all cylinders so far this season.

15:30 Cheltenham

Tip 2: 15.30 Cheltenham - ROYAL INFANTRY (6/1 generally) - 1 POINT EACH-WAY

Plenty of in-form runners in the lineup but ROYAL INFANTRY is a fascinating participant returning to a longer trip.

He shaped very well on his return at Chepstow when third in the Silver Trophy and will be spot on for fitness now.

He is down in grade off only a 2lb higher mark and is open to considerable improvement.

His previous second at Perth when tackling three miles was very solid, as he had some good horses in behind and travelled really well throughout.

With his sights lowered, I think he has a massive chance.
