KABRAL DU MATHAN did very well when formerly with Paul Nicholls, winning his first three starts prior to finishing runner-up in another three, including when narrowly beaten in the Scottish Champion Hurdle.
The five-year-old has undergone wind surgery since and returns off only a pound higher mark whilst having his first outing for Dan Skelton. With so much more under the bonnet, I fancy him to go very close.

Tip: 14:25 Haydock – HORACES PEARL – 0.5pts each-way at 15/2
With an excellent record when fresh, it could be worth siding with HORACES PEARL. The seven-year-old went unbeaten in five starts and wasn’t disgraced when fifth in a Grade 1 event at Aintree.
His final outing when third at Perth was solid and he will make his handicap debut off a very fair mark of 135. Tom Broughton can offset 5lb, so there’s lots to like regarding his credentials.
His record when returning from an absence of four months plus reads three wins from three, so in a race that should be run to suit, I’m hopeful that Fergal O’Brien’s likeable candidate will make an impact.
