Having fallen over fences at Kelso on his penultimate start, CHASE A FORTUNE appreciated the switch to hurdles when beaten a head at Carlisle. Chris Grant's gelding went up 3lb for that effort and may find further improvement for the application of cheekpieces. Similar comments apply to Double Oban, who is taken to leave his Newbury return behind him, and Kingston Narcissus is another capable of being in the mix.

Fern Hill has turned a corner recently with the 10-year-old recording back-to-back victories at Uttoxeter and Huntingdon, having previously not won since November 2022. He is respected off a 3lb higher mark, but the less-exposed EXPRESS SURPRISE gets the vote after a solid return effort at Lingfield. The six-year-old should have more to offer on just his fifth start over fences. Gold Emery and Visual Impact head the remainder.

Mac's Max filled the runner-up spot on his racecourse bow at Newcastle where Striking Midnight finished one place behind and the pair are expected to be in the mix once again. He raced keenly on debut when second at Huntingdon and the application of a hood might help to make the difference.
