Tip 1: Califet En Vol - 1pt Win

Regent’s Stroll got off the mark over fences in a two runner race at Wincanton last time beating Jeriko Du Reponet but he could struggle to give 5lbs to his stablemate CALIFET EN VOL (best priced at 3/1) in this race. The Nicky Henderson trained seven-year-old was a high class novice hurdler last season and he ran well over this course and distance on his chasing debut at the December meeting.

Califet En Vol jumped well throughout the contest until a mistake at the second last fence when appearing to get tired after a 252 day break. He was eventually beaten 13 lengths by a more experienced rival but that doesn’t tell the whole story and he looks overpriced to upset the favourite.

Tip 2: Ma Shantou 7/2 - 1pt Win

MA SHANTOU (best priced at 7/2) was an impressive winner at the October meeting on the old course beating Electric Mason by 2 ¾ lengths and he can be forgiven his latest effort at Haydock. The Emma Lavelle trained six-year-old was a well backed 18/5 shot when winning on his reappearance off a mark of 129 on good ground under Harry Cobden.

The runner-up Electric Mason reversed that form at Haydock a month later when underperforming but he is of interest back at Cheltenham. The stronger stamina test of the new course at Cheltenham should suit him well and he can bounce back to form with Harry Cobden back on board.

3:25 Musselburgh

Tip 3: Afadil - 1pt Win

The Paul Nicholls trained AFADIL (best price 11/4) lost all chance at the start at Sandown last time before finishing 3rd and he should prove hard to beat off a 1lb lower mark. The six-year-old has a good record at Musselburgh with form figures of 1312 in his career with those runs coming off marks higher than his current rating of 119.

Afadil was only beaten a length in the Scottish County Hurdle last season off a mark of 120 at this track and he runs here off a 1lb lower mark. Olive Nicholls takes off a handy 5lbs and he looks the one to beat.
