Ryder lines up three midweek selections across Lingfield, Newbury and Kempton.
11:55 Lingfield
11:55 LINGFIELD – KUIAMA – 1pt WIN
Best odds of 11/4 available at time of publishing.
KUIAMA has a solid profile with form figures of 2133 since joining Dylan Cunha and she looks capable of getting back to winning ways in what appears a weak contest. The three-year-old was only beaten ¾ of a length at Chelmsford last time out off this same mark, fighting back well in the closing stages.
Rosiesme Darling finished ahead of her on that occasion but has since been beaten over 6f on her next start, while Kuiama now benefits from a 3lb swing in the weights with that rival. Drawn well in stall 1, she should secure a good early position and with Jason Watson deputising in the saddle, she looks well placed to strike.
14:40 Newbury
2:40 NEWBURY – BLOCK ROCKIN’ BEATS – 0.5pt EACH-WAY
Best odds of 9/1 available at time of publishing.
A smart bumper performer, BLOCK ROCKIN’ BEATS finally began to fulfil that early promise when stepped up to this three-mile trip last time out. The Oliver Signy-trained seven-year-old had previously beaten the now 134-rated Fortune De Mer in a bumper, prior to that rival reversing the form when finishing second in a Listed bumper at Cheltenham.
He had proved disappointing over hurdles for much of his career, but showed a glimmer of promise when upped to 2m5f at Kempton on his penultimate start before putting it all together at Lingfield, where he scored by 2¼ lengths on his first run over nearly three miles. Raised just 6lb for that success, he should be capable of running another big race under similar conditions.
19:00 Kempton
7:00 KEMPTON – MAID IN CHELSEA – 1pt WIN
Best odds of 9/4 available at time of publishing.
The Eve Johnson Houghton-trained MAID IN CHELSEA ran a cracker over course and distance a week ago and looks to hold strong claims off the same mark here. She finished a close second, beaten just one length by the well-handicapped Billy Mill, pulling 3½ lengths clear of the third.
Although the handicapper has reacted by raising her 3lb, she is able to run here under a penalty and therefore competes off the same effective mark. If reproducing that level of form over this mile trip, she looks the one they all have to beat.
