The Lost King (1pt)

Best odds 13/8 available at time of publishing.

Oisin Murphy takes over on board THE LOST KING (best priced at 13/8) who beat his mount last time at this course over 7f. That was a career best performance by the Andrew Balding trained four-year-old who was running for the first time since a gelding operation after a 202 day break.

The handicapper has only raised The Lost King 1lb for that narrow success and he shaped like this step back up in trip to a mile would suit him better. He stayed on strongly to beat the re-opposing Popmaster by a neck and he should be able to confirm that form.

Portoro (1pt)

Best odds 2/1 available at time of publishing.

The Martin Dunne trained PORTORO (best priced at 2/1) was given a tender ride by an inexperienced 7lb claimer over 6f here last time and he should prove hard to beat stepped up in trip to 7f with Rossa Ryan deputising on board. The six-year-old has recent form figures of 212 at Kempton and he runs back here off the same mark as last time despite a 1lb rise in the weights.

Court Of Session looks well treated under a 5lb penalty for his success at Wolverhampton last time but he isn’t as effective back at Kempton and that may give Portoro the advantage.

Pallas Lord 4/1 (0.5pt ew)

With recent form figures of 3232 at this track, PALLAS LORD (best priced at 4/1) looks solid each way selection in this race. The Donald Whillans trained eight-year-old has twice finished 3rd behind the extremely progressive Aisling Oscar as well as finishing 2nd beaten less than half a length on the other two occasions.

Pallas Lord is gradually edging up the ratings but Rhys Elliott now takes off 3lbs and he can hopefully gain a well-deserved success.
