Blue Rc continued his upward trajectory when landing the spoils at Southwell on New Year's Day and further glory cannot be ruled out. The four-year-old should remain competitive off 5lb higher, but CHANCELLOR is slightly more compelling. The Gosdens' gelding arrives on the back of a cracking close-up second in the Winter Derby and he may have too much class for these rivals. The Lost King and Tyrrhenian Sea are others of interest.

Although an 8lb higher mark demands another career-best performance from the five-year-old, there is every chance that he could land this en route to competing in Group company. Lakers has posted two solid efforts in defeat since scoring at Southwell in October and he should give another good account, along with Sarab Star and Marshman.

A winner at Kempton before landing the Trial for this event over C&D in January, he was worth even more than the winning margin suggests and is taken to defy a 6lb rise. Berkshire Sundance flopped in that same contest before bouncing back at Lingfield and must not be underestimated, nor should Dramatic Star, who remains unexposed over these types of trip.
