UK Horse Racing Tips: Fontwell

STRONG RUN was well held when sixth in a valuable handicap at Newbury last time, but that was still a decent effort given the strength of that contest. A winner at Southwell earlier in the season, the seven-year-old could be hard to beat back at this level. Lisnamurrican is a player based on her second at Huntingdon in December but failed to match that performance last time, while That Is Blue is the clear pick of the remainder.

All of these have claims, but none more so than EDGEWELL. Nick Scholfield's gelding arrives on the back of two decisive victories in recent weeks and a 3lb rise for the latest of them may still underestimate him. Ballynaheer has also been in good form of late and is an obvious danger, while Moonlit Potter and Gold Clermont are others to consider.

Jackomy has an obvious chance following two wins last month but he is 10lb higher than last time and that demands more from him. As a result, preference is for CALVINO, who won at Taunton a couple of starts ago and a mark of 115 should be workable on his handicap debut. Valadon is another with strong form claims, while He's A Latchico should not be underestimated.

AMALFI SKYLINE missed the whole of last year, but showed definite signs of a return to form over these hurdles last month. Not beaten far in fifth, he scored off a higher mark over fences in 2024, and Isabelle Ryder's 5lb allowance further helps his case. West Orchard is usually in the mix at this level and returns to the smaller obstacles with a chance, while Has Troke could prove pick of the remainder.

Last month's Ludlow runner-up A Little Something has plenty more to offer over fences. She is preferred to the more exposed Gorcombe Moonshine, but MAJESTIC MOMENT could prove the one to side with. The seven-year-old has won two of his four starts over fences so far, including a cosy success at Exeter on his first outing since November. That comeback run should have blown any cobwebs away and he remains of interest raised only 4lb.

Progressive over fences, SUPERSTYLIN landed a decent handicap here last month. Chris Gordon's charge could prove hard to keep out of the finish if running up to the same level back in this sphere, given he can revert to hurdling off a 10lb lower mark. Blue Universe posted a better effort when runner-up at Huntingdon last time. He could feature again on that evidence and makes more appeal than Stratford fourth Easter Icon.
