Mick's Spirit went in by half a length over C&D last month and is likely to be on the premises, while Aleppo Pepper is another to watch out for.

GET THIS IN finished third behind two nice types on debut at Sandown prior to producing an underwhelming effort when sixth at Kempton. Provided the son of Study Of Man has wintered well and a gelding operation has the desired effect, he could prove tough to beat. Champion Lawman changed hands for 44,000 euros as a yearling and is related to a few winners, including Listed scorer Panama Red. He warrants a market check along with Rogue Defence, who has Rab Havlin booked.

Merlier failed to land the hat-trick when pitched into handicap company, finishing well beaten at Thirsk, although there will be plenty who give him another chance. C&D winner Alasrae is in excellent form and is noted, but ROGUE MESSIAH gets the vote. Jack Jones' gelding has shown plenty of ability in his three starts in novice company, winning once, and an opening mark of 82 doesn't look beyond him.

Although a number of these could step forward now sent handicapping, it looks safer to stick with Newcastle winner ENTER SANDMAN. A 6lb penalty for only a narrow success will ask sterner questions of him, but he's berthed well and probably won't need to find bags of improvement. Returning to 6f should benefit Luna Beaux, who didn't run too badly over the minimum trip at Bath. Market support for Saddle Up could be noteworthy.

The Gosdens have kicked off the new season in excellent form and it would come as no great surprise to see Cyrano De Bergerac mount a serious challenge on his racecourse bow. The Palace Pier colt fetched 150,000gns as a yearling and is of clear interest, but KNIGHTS CHARGE gets the vote. Roger Varian's charge made the frame over a mile at Kempton in December and this step up in trip will suit so he can put that previous experience to good use. Liveinthelight might prove best of the remainder.

PENFOLDS GRANGE has finished second over a mile on his last two starts and it might be that returning to 10 furlongs can enable him to go one place better. Lenny's Spirit came off worst in a tight three-way-finish over C&D last time and is unlikely to be far away on that evidence, while Joseph should be happier back on the all-weather after a disappointing Nottingham effort.

It looks best to stick with WILD THOUGHTS, who trounced his rivals at Redcar last week and is surely still well-in under a 6lb penalty. Katalyst didn't run too badly at Southwell when last seen in December and is interesting with Billy Loughnane aboard, and Labiche is related to a few useful horses so it wouldn't be any great surprise were he much better than an opening mark of 58.
