UK Horse Racing Tips: Uttoxeter

SACCARY is edging closer to his first win over hurdles. A couple of mistakes cost David Pipe's charge when finishing second over C&D in March, but a more fluent display of jumping could see the son of Nathaniel go one place better. Plumpton winner Desert Halo posted another decent effort at Hereford and is likely to go close again, while Kalkaroo is usually in the mix at this level.

Lexington Wood was thrown in at the deep end on his hurdling/stable debut. He should find this easier than the Dovecote, but TRIGG looks a safer proposition. Dan Skelton's charge has shown plenty of ability in bumpers and the half-brother to a couple of winning hurdlers is fancied to improve even further now sent over obstacles. Barry Fife could prove the pick of the remainder.

ON THE BAYOU had a legitimate excuse for a disappointing effort at Exeter last time, and Harry Fry's charge can reward those that keep the faith. Tap Tap Shamie failed to justify cramped odds when runner-up at Carlisle. The return to a shorter trip will likely suit, while it would be no surprise if Evening Tess proves better than she's shown so far.

CALIMYSTIC arrives here unbeaten over fences following wins at Newbury and Sandown, and the lightly-raced seven-year-old should still have more in the locker. A rise in grade coupled with a 6lb hike in the handicap will ask more of him but, even so, he looks worth sticking with. Joyeux Machin made the most of a drop in grade at Bangor and is expected to go well again with that confidence-boosting success under his belt. Party Vibes and Cruz Control can battle it out for third.

Tom Desjy struggled over hurdles but he fared much better on his fencing bow at Fontwell, finishing third. With Sean Bowen taking over for the first time and with improvement likely, he merits respect. CHER MONSIEUR goes chasing for the first time following a number of creditable hurdling efforts, including a win at Newcastle. He should appreciate a step up to three miles so if taking to the larger obstacles he may well be good enough. Rule Me In could is also noted.

MISS MAVERICK will need to produce a career best from her current mark, but the four-time course winner has gone well fresh previously and could represent some value. Nigel Hawke has his string in good form and he will be hopeful of a big run from Torrent, while Sir Galahad and Liverpool Knight could also play a hand at the finish.

A narrow second on his handicap bow at Bangor a fortnight ago, GOOD BOY GRIFF looks poised to shed the maiden tag. Pedigree suggests the son of Maxios should relish this step up in trip and the booking of champion jockey Sean Bowen catches the eye. Coolkatie is another who could come into her own over this longer distance and she's feared most, ahead of the lightly-raced Hillwalk.

Although the hat-trick seeking Grand Clermont's French form isn't the easiest to assess, market support could be significant ahead of his stable bow. Nonetheless, UKANTANGO was an authoritative winner when returned to fences at Southwell last month and a 7lb rise might be lenient. Jet Smart has been in fine fettle between the flags of late and he is another to consider.
