Tip 1: Barbury Boy - 1pt

Best odds of 8/11 at Unibet while publishing.

The Alan King trained BARBURY BOY (best priced at 8/11) made a winning handicap debut at Beverley a fortnight ago and he should be able to follow up despite racing here off a 9lb higher mark. The three-year-old ran with credit in three starts over 7f and a mile before winning on off an opening mark of 60 when upped in trip to 1m2f for the first time on his first start for 148 days since being gelded.

Barbury Boy and the runner-up Alice De Clare pulled 6 ½ lengths clear of the third and the form has been boosted by the runner-up winning by 3 ¼ lengths at Yarmouth on her next start. Rossa Ryan, who is 1/1 on him, retains the ride and he should prove hard to beat.

Tip 2: Opportunity - 0.5pt EW

Best odds of 9/2 at Unibet while publishing.

Valedictory will no doubt prove popular now stepping up in trip to 1m4f for the first time but he now races off a 3lb higher mark and preference instead goes to OPPORTUNITY (best priced at 9/2). The William Haggas trained four-year-old beat subsequent St Leger runner-up Rahiebb (now rated 115) in a novice race last season in receipt of 5lbs prior to finishing behind Amiloc on two occasions at listed and Group 2 level.

Opportunity now returns after a 323 day break having been gelded over the winter and makes his handicap debut off a mark of 91. He should prove well handicapped off that mark and can win this before targeting a Royal Ascot handicap.

Tip 3: King’s Cavalry - 1pt

Best odds of 10/11 at William Hill while publishing.

It was disappointing to see KING’S CAVALRY (best priced at 10/11) beaten on his reappearance over this course and distance but he remains a colt full of potential and he should be able to get off the mark at the third attempt. The James Tate trained son of Kingman outran odds of 50/1 to finish 6th on his debut last season at Newmarket in a race that has worked out extremely well with all five of the horses who finished ahead of him all winning since.

King’s Cavalry pulled clear with a unbeaten colt last time and he looks the one to beat with race fitness on his side over his nearest market rivals.
