UK Horse Racing Tips: Killarney

Gavin Cromwell's NORTH SHORE sets the standard here with his efforts in far better races the standout form despite a fall three out at Fairyhouse last month when travelling as well as any. If none the worse for that mishap he is difficult to oppose at this level. Portnahapple is the potential danger on his debut for Willie Mullins having finished second at the Curragh on both starts on the Flat, with Earthwatch the tentative pick for third.

Bud Fox won his point-to-point followed by a Punchestown bumper before finishing third at Cheltenham, but disappointed on his hurdling bow at Down Royal. If bouncing back from that after a break he can prove the biggest danger to exciting recruit MAGICO. Decent on the Flat with a career-high rating of 92, he is now with Willie Mullins and if he can jump he may have too much class for these. Approval and Tyson Fury are others to consider.

SAINTE LUCIE won over further at Cork, but she has the speed for this trip having won her maiden hurdle at Punchestown in December 2024 over a fraction shorter. She has to find 4lb on official ratings with Break My Soul, who return to hurdles after pulling up over fences at Fairyhouse, but may be better suited by conditions. Dunsy Rock is the unknown quantity after winning her maiden at Fairyhouse, but Gordon Elliott thinks she is up to it and she could run into a place.

It was testing ground when Ragmans Corner finished runner-up at Navan in November. He could still be in the mix and is preferred to the returning Impero, but BECASSE could prove the one to side with. The latter has the most recent form having found only one too good at Wexford on his handicap debut in March. He looks on a workable mark on that evidence and Henry De Bromhead's unexposed five-year-old gets the vote.

SANDOR CLEGANE finally opened his account over fences with last month's victory at Down Royal. He has his ground once again, so Paul Nolan's charge could be worth sticking with despite his penalty. Da Capo Glory wasn't disgraced in the Martin Pipe at Cheltenham in March and switches back to chasing with a shout, while Butch Cassidy is worth a second look encountering fast going for the first time.

Willie Mullins has won two of the last three renewals and LA NOTE VERTE has to be of interest. The dual winner over hurdles makes her seasonal/chasing debut and could prove good enough over fences at the first time of asking. Emily Love has won five of her nine starts over timber. She's another chasing newcomer to note, while Billie Frechette showed some ability when second over fences at Kilbeggan and looks best of the remainder.

O'MOORE PARK arrives here on the back of two decent efforts in defeat in top handicaps at Cheltenham and Aintree. While this is competitive, Willie Mullins' gelding should find this to be easier and he can defy top weight. Caesar Rock has been knocking on the door of late and could prove to be the main threat to the selection, although Kamikaz Du Plessis and The Short Go are others to note.

Mike Des Mottes sets the standard following a very promising fourth on his racecourse bow at Leopardstown earlier in the year. That said, preference is for LINFORD, who lacks race experience but is closely related to plenty of winners and can make a winning debut for top connections. Lucky Signal is surely better that what he showed at Leopardstown, while any market support for Kolirisk De Couely would have to be noted.
