This looks like a strong renewal of the Michael Seely Memorial Stakes but preference goes to SO REGAL (best priced at 3/1) who has been impressive on her two starts this season. Despite not handling the track particularly well on her reappearance, she beat Lyrics Of Life by 1 ¼ lengths who had previously finished 2nd behind Evolutionist and Legacy Link in maiden/novice races.

So Regal showed an impressive turn of foot when following up under a penalty at Ascot last time after which she was given a quote of 14/1 for the Group 1 Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot. Danny Tudhope takes on board and she is likely to be ridden for speed in what could prove a tactically run contest.

Form figures of 8R0 hardly inspire huge confidence with MUSTAZEED (best priced at 28/1) but he looks worth taking a chance on at the prices back at his favourite track. The Harry Eustace trained eight-year-old has form figures of 01148211R at Newbury in his career with his previous two career victories all coming at this venue.

Mustazeed won this race in 2023 off a mark of 83 before winning twice more over this course and distance off marks of 86 and 87. He needs to defy a mark of 91 in this race but he looks overpriced with four places widely available.

The George Boughey trained ERUDITION (best priced at 4/1) ran a race full of promise when 3rd on his debut at Leicester a month ago which has received a couple of form boosts since. The unbeaten winner I’ll Be Back was defying a penalty, the runner-up King’s Cavalry won by 4 ¼ lengths on his next start and the fourth Beagle Bay won on his handicap debut on Wednesday by 4 lengths off a mark of 80.

Erudition was only beaten three lengths at the finish by the winner under Jack Callan and he looks the biggest danger to the favourite with Billy Loughnane taking over on board in receipt of 7lbs and with the benefit of race fitness over Extremely Zain.
