Faeberon (1pt)

Best price 5/2 at the time of publishing.

It is slightly frustrating to see FAEBERON (best priced at 5/2) so well backed overnight but he remains the most likely winner of this 0-70 handicap. The Simon & Ed Crisford trained three-year-old ran with credit on his two starts over a mile last season before taking a slightly backward step on his reappearance at Doncaster when sent off an unfancied 22/1 shot.

Faeberon now makes his handicap debut off an opening mark of 70 but crucially now steps up in trip to 1m4f for the first time. This suits on both sides of his breeding being by Sea The Stars out of a 1m2f winner and he has been gelded since his latest run in March. An improved performance should await off top weight.

Purosangue (0.5pt ew)

Best price 8/1 at the time of publishing.

PUROSANGUE (best priced at 8/1) caught the eye on his reappearance at Pontefract over 5f and he should be better suited by this more conventional track over 6f. The five-year-old was having his first start for Robert Cowell when slowly away under Rossa Ryan before making good late headway to finish a never nearer 3 length 4th at the finish.

The handicapper has dropped Purosangue 1lb for that effort meaning he is now off a career low mark of 96 in comparison to the rating of 105 that he started last season and he looks sure to run well.
