CAILIN AINE has shown promise on both starts to date and this appears to be an ideal opportunity for the Invincible Army filly to get off the mark. Pretty Little Baby is the first foal out of a mare who won as a juvenile and she has to be respected given her connections, while Lady Skipworth is another newcomer to consider.
Prediction : 1st Cailin Aine 2nd Pretty Little Baby 3rd Lady Skipworth

Bellatina did not build on a promising debut effort when well beaten at Southwell last time. She cannot be written off, but preference is for KODI BEAR LIGHT. Karl Burke's filly was second of three on her racecourse bow at Musselburgh and that form was boosted when the winner was second in the Lily Agnes at Chester last week. Any market support for Envision would have to be noted.
Prediction : 1st Kodi Bear Light 2nd Bellatina 3rd Envision

With most of these having questions to answer, it is hard to oppose BLACKISTHENEWBLACK. Andrew Balding's filly got off the mark in decisive fashion over 1m4f at Kempton a couple of weeks ago and she can defy a 6lb rise on this occasion. Boilermaker showed enough on his handicap bow at Yarmouth to suggest that he could make the frame in a race of this nature, while Raven's View is another with each-way claims.
Prediction : 1st Blackisthenewblack 2nd Boilermaker 3rd Ravens View

EMERALD HARMONY won off today's mark last year when trained in Ireland. She finished a creditable third at Beverley recently and is taken to come good on only her fourth start for Paul Midgley's yard. Al Hussar finished a close third at Musselburgh last time and looks set to make another bold bid, while Castan won a division of this sprint last term, when Curious Rover and Muker filled the places, and he's not out of it either.
Prediction : 1st Emerald Harmony 2nd Al Hussar 3rd Castan

Hale End won this back in 2024 and arrives in fine fettle having scored at Wetherby last month. Rising Force won nicely over C&D a fortnight ago and could be in the thick of things again, despite a 7lb rise. MISSION COMMAND has placed over 7f on his last couple of outings. He finished a respectable third over today's trip at Pontefract before that and Jennie Candlish's charge looks set to strike off his current mark.
Prediction : 1st Mission Command 2nd Hale End 3rd Rising Force

CITY OF POETS was carried left at a crucial stage of the race in the Hunt Cup here a fortnight ago and that effectively ended his challenge. In fine form on the all-weather prior to that, James Tate's charge remains unexposed and looks worth another chance. New Image bounced back with a close third at Redcar last month and another good effort seems assured, while the returning Zapphire and Oolong Poobong are both worth a second look.
Prediction : 1st City Of Poets 2nd New Image 3rd Zapphire

17:25 Thirsk

Patricia R has won two of her four starts, including a C&D maiden on debut, but she needs forgiving a below-par 10th here on her handicap debut and has been absent since September. Older horses have a good record in this and nine-year-old Persuasion is hard to ignore after his Musselburgh success, but ZIGGY'S QUEEN is preferred. A short-head winner of a better race at Lingfield in February and not disgraced since, she drops a class now with Warren Fentiman claiming 3lb from the saddle.
Prediction : 1st Ziggys Queen 2nd Patricia R 3rd Persuasion

17:57 Thirsk

Run This Way won for the seventh time when successful at Redcar last time, but that was his first success since June 2024 and more is required off a 3lb higher mark. Mick Appleby throws everything at Valsharah, with a hood added to cheekpieces and a tongue-tie, and he merits respect, but CROCUS TIME gets a tentative nod. A C&D winner last seen finishing third at Catterick, she may have more to offer on her return to action.
Prediction : 1st Crocus Time 2nd Run This Way 3rd Valsharah
