Naqeeb (0.5pt ew)

Best price 14/1 at the time of publishing.

The Julie Camacho trained NAQEEB (best priced at 14/1) has a superb record at Goodwood in his career and he looks sure to have improved from his reappearance run. The six-year-old finished 2nd in the Chesterfield Cup here last season before defying odds of 33/1 to win the listed Foundation Stakes over this course and distance beating the 114 rated Ancient Wisdom and Saddadd who won the Group 3 Gordon Richards Stakes on his reappearance and is now rated 115.

Naqeeb will have found the one mile trip too sharp for him at Ascot in the listed Paradise Stakes on his reappearance when 5th beaten only 2 ¾ lengths and he looks overpriced back at Goodwood over this 1m2f trip.

Oathbound (0.5pt ew)

Best price 15/2 at the time of publishing.

The William Haggas trained OATHBOUND (best priced at 15/2) caught the eye behind stablemate Princling on his reappearance and he could prove well handicapped off an opening mark of 71. The three-year-old is a half brother to South Seas (rated at a peak of 105 on the flat) and Long Ago (rated at a peak of 92) so he is bred to be much better than this opening mark and based on that breeding he should relish this step up in trip to 1m2f.

Oathbound ran with credit over a mile on his final qualifying run at Wetherby on his reappearance and he can capitalise on his lenient opening mark.

Southbank (1pt)

Best price 9/2 at the time of publishing.

SOUTHBANK (best priced at 9/2) won this race last season by two lengths off a mark of 50 and he now runs back at this track for the first time since off a 5lb higher mark. The Chris Gordon trained five-year-old has been kept busy over the winter on the AW running consistently well and he was only beaten 1 ¾ lengths last time at Lingfield.

Southbank runs back on turf on fast ground for the first time since a head 2nd off this mark at Windsor in August and he looks sure be staying on strongly at the finish once again.

Dream Composer (1pt)

Best price 4/1 at the time of publishing.

Despite going up 5lbs for a win on his stable debut for Tony Carroll, DREAM COMPOSER (best priced at 4/1) remains well handicapped off this mark of 83. The eight-year-old is an eleven-time winner including off marks higher than 90 on three occasions including over this course and distance off a mark of 93 back in 2023.

Dream Composer beat Copper Knight by ¾ length at Ripon on his reappearance and that rival boosted that form winning at Beverley on his next start off a 1lb higher mark. He had never won on his reappearance previously so he is expected to step forward from his latest run and came make it 2/2 for this trainer.
