There is no doubt that Minnie Hauk sets the standard with an official rating of 123 but I feel she may prove vulnerable over this 1m2½f trip on good ground. A chance is taken on SADDADD (best priced at 10/3) who has looked progressive on each of his seven career starts. The Roger Varian trained colt won the London Gold Cup last season and then wasn’t seen until another handicap victory at Sandown 105 days later. He finished a close 3rd behind Naqeeb on his final start last season before winning on his reappearance at Sandown in the Group 3 Gordon Richards Stakes.

UK trainers have a good record in this race since 2013 with Roger Charlton winning it twice with Al Kazeem and also with Decorated Knight, Lady Cecil winning it with Noble Mission and William Haggas winning it with Alenquer. Saddadd looks the biggest danger to the favourite.

It is a logical decision for Ryan Moore to ride True Love, who he has ridden to win three times on, over PRECISE (best priced at 10/3) who he rode for the first time in the 1000 Guineas when 7th behind her stablemate. The Aidan O’Brien trained filly has a similar profile to last year’s winner Lake Victoria who won the Group 1 Moyglare Stud Stakes a two -year-old at this track as a second string before finishing midfield in the 1000 Guineas on her reappearance.

Precise has done both of those and shaped as if she would take a huge step forward from her reappearance after an interrupted preparation for it. She won four of her five starts last season and can reverse form with her stablemate under Wayne Lordan.
